She was living in Austin with her career right on track when she drove home to Munday, Texas to visit her family for the holidays. Life was good...almost perfect. Then a funny thing happened. She felt compelled to stay. To stay in a town of less than 1,500 people when you could be living the life in Austin? All of her friends thought she was crazy. Why would she want to stay in Munday, of all places, especially when she was single? Kandis loved everything about Austin - the swimming holes, the parks, the live music, the festivals, the nightlife - but for some reason she knew God wanted her to stay. So she did.
For months, she worked day and night fixing up a 100 year old house and turning it into a clothing and gift store. She named it Casablanca Boutique out of her affinity for romanticism. Two weeks before the grand opening, a lady stopped by and asked if she would meet a friend of hers, Cory, a young, single coach who had moved there the previous year from Dallas. Now, Kandis wasn't exactly excited because (a) she was crazy busy, (b) he was a coach and (c) she just knew she wasn't going to find her future husband in Munday, Texas. But she agreed and it turned out to be the best thing she could have done. It turns out that Cory had lived behind Kandis the entire time and she had walked past his house several times a day for almost 6 months, yet they had never met! From that day on, they spend every day together.
